The Impact of Music on Human

In the historical context, the development of music is inseparable from the development of sensual abilities. Music successively went through all stages of development, as did man. It developed, opened new frontiers to the vision of the world, served as the expression of people's feelings throughout its existence.

Development of Music

Let's briefly follow the development of music in individual eras. Starting from the primitive syncretic society, music was inseparable from the beginnings of primitive dance.

In ancient times, people began to pay considerable attention to music. Pythagoras and his students were engaged in mathematics to the music, noting that it has a beneficial effect on intelligence.

Impact of Music

Aristotle believed that with the help of music you can definitely influence the formation of a person’s personality. The great healer of antiquity, Avicenna, called the melody the "non-medicinal" method of treatment, along with diet, smells and laughter.

Music brought up, helped and made life easier for the Greek in many everyday situations, encouraged him at competitions, delighted his soul at rest and in feasts with friends. In his treatise “Politics” Aristotle states: “Grammar (reading and writing), gymnastics, music and sometimes drawing are the most important subjects of study for Greeks. not only to direct their activities, but also to enjoy our leisure time perfectly.

From the foregoing, it can be concluded that for the ancient Greeks, music was, above all, an active stimulant of the activity performed under it and only later a means of pleasant rest and idle entertainment.

Since the XIX century, science has accumulated a lot of vital information about the effects of music on humans, obtained as a result of experimental studies. It has been scientifically proven that music can strengthen the immune system, reduce morbidity and improve metabolism.

The influence of music in recent decades has been studied intensively. Experiments are conducted in several directions, such as:

• the influence of individual musical instruments on living organisms;

• the influence of the music of the great geniuses of mankind, the individual influence of individual works of composers;

• impact on the human body of folk music.

It should be emphasized that the Ministry of Health recognized music therapy in Russia as the official treatment method in 2003. This method is widely used in psychotherapy, since music has a strong emotional impact on the psycho-emotional sphere of a person, it can serve as a non-medical remedy for various emotional disorders.

Music exists in our life as a means of self-knowledge and self-expression

Music as, perhaps, no other art, can influence the mood, create it. All musical works can be divided into activating and relaxing, soothing. There is even music "for the mind" - various dodecaphony can be an example. In general, the perception of music is closely related to mental processes, that is, it requires attention, observation, and intelligence. Music perceived by the auditory receptor affects the general state of the whole organism, causes reactions related to changes in blood circulation, respiration.

How does music affect a person's mood?

Probably everyone noticed that music helps to cope with difficult life situations. In addition, she is able to create and maintain the right mood, helps to relax (it is not surprising that after work some people, first of all crossing the threshold of their own home, include their favorite songs), and can, on the contrary, charge them with energy.

In the morning it is better to listen to vigorous and rhythmic music, it will help to wake up and recharge with energy for the whole day. Also cheerful and energetic music, influencing the human psyche, replaces sadness with joy, and sadness with optimism and vitality.

Calm and smooth music will help to relax and calm down, distract from everyday worries, reduce the number of thoughts in your head and focus on self-regulation. Slow and relaxing music affects a person as a sleeping pill.

We conducted a study in a group of 2 courses among 60 students (30 of them are boys and 30 girls) to find out if they listen to regular music. The diagram shows the results showing that music is a constant companion of today's youth.

And it is not surprising, the power of music lies in the fact that its influence is due to the psycho-emotional state of a person. It is able to positively influence and make a person happier, due to the harmonization of his state. Otherwise, the influence of music on a person may be negative.

The impact of music on a person, depending on styles and trends

All-round influence on a person has classical music. Often, scientists attribute to classical works a miraculous effect.

Most conversations are about the works of such recognized geniuses as Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Grieg and Schumann.

Unlike classical music, physicians do not recommend long listening to bands playing in the style of rap, hard rock and heavy metal. This is indicated by research conducted recently by Melbourne scientists. Hard rock is often the cause of unconscious aggression, rap also evokes negative emotions, and heavy metal can even cause mental disorders.

As for other genres: blues, jazz and reggae can take you out of the depressive state; music in the styles of pop someone can cheer up, and spoil someone; muscular and nervous tension will relieve melodic rock, and hard rock, on the contrary, will introduce into a stupor. But it should be noted that we should not exclude individual preferences in musical genres.

In order to get closer to the question of the genres and taste preferences of students, we first decided to find out whether they listen to music in preparation for classes.

The results of the study showed that more than half of the respondents actually use music in preparing for classes, which is reflected in the diagram below.

The distribution of musical genres is shown in the following diagram

As a result, of the 34 people who are preparing for classes to music, the vast majority (59%) listen to popular music. In second place was rock music (26%), less popular was classical music (9%) and jazz (6%). But at the same time, none of the respondents are preparing for classes under jazz and electronic music.

Thus, in order to understand the impact on you of the music of a particular genre, you should just watch your emotions and sensations.

The cultural and national identity of a person is also a kind of perception filter of a particular music. But in the light of today's realities there is an interpenetration of different cultures into each other and music is no exception.
